cheaper?!?! i got a quote from nissan for a new distributer of over 400 quid! (just for the unit - no fitting) ... thats more then half of what the car cost me :wow: wheres the best place to get a replacement dizzy from?

Tried editing my post below but wouldnt let me change the title :blush: ok been playing around and its nothing to do with the engine check light as ive actually paid attention and noticed that goes off when you turn the car over. ecu threw up a code 21 which is ignition system so ive gone...

right ok ive had another play ... the light stays on and doesnt flash and it turns over but just doesnt start so im guessing if ignition was rinsed it wouldnt complete the connection in order to turn the car over? ... its raining cats and dogs now so il give the fault code process a go in a bit...

how do i check for codes?

Evening chaps Started the car this morning (first time (as always) but then when I went to turn on the blower to clear the windows the car cut out (dont know whether this is just coincidence or not) but now the car wont start and the orange light with the funny little symbol with 'check'...

Right engine and box are out along and ready to go ... Had a little research on other parts that may be needed so ive taken them off as a precaution ... package comes with: Engine complete Gearbox Drive shafts Engine and gearbox mounts Both wiring looms Gear linkage 1.3 ECU

Found the old MOTs and there are quite a few advisories ... two tires, corrosion, cv boots and corroded brake components so im just going to take the engine and box out and weigh it in.

Hey Ed, here are a group of pics showing the various scuffs and marks to the bodywork, as you can see there are no major dents etc just scuffs and cracks really ... as for the advisories im currently hunting down all the paperwork for the micra so il let you know as soon as ive found it mate...

Morning, Had this car for a couple of years but going traveling over the summer and havent got the space to store it. Its a 1.3 GX 5 speed manual with 109k on the clock although the engine blew at 100k so I fitted a new engine that had done 67k so the engine in now on 76k. Mechanically...

although it is a 98 i think its the earlier type ... if i got the stamp off it is there anywhere on the forum that lists what it is (pre or post)

right took the gearbox off ... replaced clutch, pressure plate and thrust bearing and its still the same which leads me to the sensible conclusion that the gearbox is rinsed grr ... it is a 98 r reg am i right in thinking there are slight differences in the pre and post facelift boxes? or am i...

never mind then :grinning: ... its just the gearbox in my sisters 1.0 has gone and ive got a replacement 1.3 box in the garage i keep as a backup for my car so i was hoping for a quick fit that didnt involve me trawling around for a new box :doh:
