The problem was finally diagnosed by a mechanic as a bearing problem. The engine has run a bearing. Me washing the engine prior to the problem surfacing was a coincidence. He told me that the only way to fix it is to change the engine, i could rebuild it, but its a waste of time and money...

Since i bought it two months ago, i havent touched it mechanically. I'm going to go do a complete service, flush, the whole go. Im thinking it might be tappet noise, maybe the oil has clogged and gunked up somewhere and its not going to the tappets.

Yeah, the wells were dry, and the leads looked fine. It didnt seem like water had gotten in there. Im still going to replace the spark plugs as they need replacing anyway and see how I go.

IF i were to sell my engine, offers ? Has timing chain / bearing issue ... not sure yet. Just an EOI for now. Anybody keen ?
