So, how do you get out of your car?

Silly, I know but...how do YOU get out? My previous K11 was a three door, the B pillar was further back so my right hand would go to the door frame where B met the floor, and I'd leaver myself out. My K12 is a five door so the B pillar is further to the front, making that more awkward. Perhaps...

    Speedo under reads?

Thanks, wheels and tyres seem standard 165/70/r14. Tyres are an unusual brand, and a little perished but even so. Speedo seems out 10% or thereabouts . Can they be recallibrated on th K12? I think it's mechanical, maybe a different cog at the gearbox end? Garage I bought from says GPS is not...

    Speedo under reads?

Hi, my new-to-me 2003 K12 1.0 speedometer seem to under read, compared to the revs and GPS. (I read the car is geared 18.6 mph per 1k rpm.) At 2k rpm the clock says 33mph, should say 37 or so. At 2.5k rpm, speedo 40, should be 46. My GPS can be hard to lock on, but when it does it seems to say...

    Paint falling off in patches!

Hi, my new to me 2003 K12 in blue has paint missing in patches, right down to the galvanised metal. I'll get a rattle can of the right colour made up, will I need primer on first? I don't expect a perfect finish, just tidy it up a bit and stop it getting worse. Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions...

    Advice about cleaning.

Bumpitty bump... I have a newly acquired (two days ago) '03 K12, and started to give the grubby interior a decent clean. When it came to the door panels exactly like those pictured above, I could not decide was it a pale panel with dirt down in the recesses of the grain, or a dark panel with...

    Oh dearie me!

That's an idea, a nice bit of stainless steel there.

    Oh dearie me!

Sad to say, my less than 90k miles 2002 K11 has catastrophically failed it's NCT, with massive corrosion underneath and other stuff. The local garage who replaced the clutch just last year says over a grand to fix, and of course it could just fail again anyway. The downside of living in a...

what did you do to your micra today ?

That all seems quite civilised, I must say. Around here there is usually a long wait in the company of several anxious car owners. And of course in the UK and now in Ireland the inspection lifts have failed their NCT/MOT.

what did you do to your micra today ?

I put some more music on the SD card in the radio, does that count? The wiper is beginning to squeak again, but it's too wet to do anything about it. And when it's dry I tend to forget about the squeak...

    Safe revs?

She starts from cold slightly more easily I think, but certainly zooms off from cold more enthusiastically with the new oil. Great. ?

    Safe revs?

Ok, I've just drive up my local hill between two roundabouts at 23-28 or so in 2nd, and it seems about right, as long as I resist the impulse to go any faster. There is a local bend that seems to want gear 2.5, but that's a different story. "Engineering explained" is interesting, though in one...

    Safe revs?

There is one particular roundabout near me where I tend to rev a bit in third on the exit, but often go straight into 5th to cruise at the limit. And a local hill where I'm unsure about high revs in 2nd or a bit too low in 3rd. So maybe I'll keep the revs up. I suppose my usual style is trying...

    Safe revs?

Thanks for the replies, guys. Matt, do you go faster or indeed more economically by higher revs and less pedal, if you see what I mean? Me, I try to remember to apply throttle gradually.

    Safe revs?

I wonder what max revs people people use in day-to-day and also in "spirited" (a.k.a. maintaining progress) driving? To be honest I rarely hit 4k, which is max torque, and the theory is to go past max torque so the next gear lands you just under max. Mine is standard 998cc 2002, 78k miles which...

    5w-40 oil ok?

Ummm...some cars can use 0w (w for winter) when starting in cold weather, others need a thicker less runny oil up to say 15w. An older or very worn engine with larger gaps between the moving parts would prefer a thicker oil to fill in the spaces. The same applies when up to operating...

    5w-40 oil ok?

Thanks Super, appreciate it. I thought I came across a post from Opieoils saying 5w-40 synthetic if you want to give it a treat! I suppose I'm hoping the oil gets around the engine a bit quicker when cold, and maybe last a bit longer. A extra MPG or two would not go amiss.
