I wouldn't call 9.6s to 60 nippy! My car isn't fast, i'd say nippy at best, and thats around 7.4ish.

If not going back to bare metal then make sure the paint systems you are using are compatible! And by hand i mean, wet and dry! Time to man up! :)

Go for an electric one! For the best results you should finish hand sanding, but at first i'd use a sander because it will save you vast amounts of time on the harsher grit and encourage you to do it properly! :)

Definately go with random orbital sander, preferably a dual action so you can switch it between random and high speed. Not much to say, the big well known brands are the only ones worth getting, bosch, skill, makita, etc.. Look around to find the best price.

Hmm, im not sure, if you turn up the boost you definately lose fuel economy. I'd imagine if you had an electronic boost controller you could increase economy on a long run by turning the boost down. There are times (like when driving 200 miles) that would be nice, since i only get 180 miles...

You'd probably need around 250ish hp, definitely and LSD and BIG fat tyres!

Has it already been said? but it could be the turbo oil seals, my car is exactly the same as yours, sometimes the odd touch off blue smoke when cold, and a little puff when changing gears, the verdict of most people seems to be the turbo oil seals.

I agree totally with this. Sometimes you just have to assert yourself, this applies to all aspects of life, no one respects a pushover (not saying you are one), its not deliberate its a natural reflex, there's nothing more attractive and empowering then confidence. Seriously, live life by YOUR...

Mechanically for ultimate power probably K11, 16v turbo potential (i know you probably could with k10 but its harder and k11 has more valves!), bigger capacity engine etc. But i'd still go for the K10!
