    Airfilter help

I think hes pointing to the vac hose. From memory the hose is used to control the thermal vaccum switch for the carbon canister. For legal reasons it needs to be hooked up. Any where in the inlet track between the filter & the top of the throttle body is fine

    What do I do now?

Get a quote from all coast power steering.I have delt with them for years. They do all things p/s & Ive only had one failure in almost 6years (which might I add they picked the car up from our workshop & fixed it that day, now its perfect) & they have rebuilt a lot of racks & pumps for us. They...

Finished making the brace for the manifold.I had an old holden engine to g/box brace lying around. So with a little cutting, bending & welding, it now makes a very sturdy manifold brace. I guess im very lucky that I can fabricate these sort of parts myself. I would hate to think what it would...

Its was cause by a few factors 1. manifold tubing too thin, so it gets brittle when it gets hot. Which was amplified by the heat wrap. 2. rear of the exhaust touched the body when cornering hard, which vibrated the manifold. 3. exhaust system was too stiff. it was acting like a 5th engine...

Yer boost is stock. Im using the gfb atomic bleed valve aswell. Makes a huge difference to when it comes on. I was enjoying it until this morning when the manifold cracked on 3 cylinders, will ring our exhaust shop when they open. Looks like being off the road for another week :(

The turbo is a mitsy tdo4l, that has been hiflowed (cant remember what impeller was used). It was on a gti swift running 14 psi making 140kw at the wheels. Comes on boost at just over 2k. Makes full boost by just over 3k. Feels a little laggy (thats being fairly picky though). Shoves you back...

    Radiator Fan

Thats pretty rare. My original radiators tanks look brand new inside & out. I prefer to stay clear of ebay.

    Radiator Fan

Since we are talking cooling systems, I thought I would mention that I found the radiator that used to be in cisco white super s. I did a bit of research & found cisco had posted a part number. So after a convertion with my radiator guy, we located the item. The part number is for a 29mm core...

    Finally Ran Her Dry

You will probly find its just the a/c clutch switching in & out (it does this to maintain temp). As it switched out, the load is removed from the engine. Used to notice it abit on my micra when it still had a/c (for about the 2 weeks it stayed in the car :P) Be interesting to see what figures...

    Finally Ran Her Dry

I used to average about 6-7l/100kms but most of my driving is highway. Even around town it doesn't go up more than a litre per 100kms

Micra owners with 14" rims - what tyres are you using and where did you get them?

Now your talking sense. Turbos make the micra's just alot more fun to drive. Its so much easier to overtake on the highway & you get to keep your fuel economy off-boost.

    Radiator Fan

The car has never overheated when I was driving it. The only time it got hot was on the dyno, being pushed hard in 3rd on a hot day (ambient workshop temp around 30oC). It just goes to show how much strain a dyno puts on a car. I was up springbrook today, doing some hard climbing & alot of...

    Radiator Fan

Looks like the right fan. Alot thinner too. Handy for anyone with a thicker radiator. Like I said I have never had one problem with there fans, they always do exactly what the company says they will. I will definately look into one when I get a larger radiator.

    Radiator Fan

I was thinking about this yesterday when I was contemplating a larger radiator. Davies Craig used to make one of the best aftermarket electric fans on the market. Now Im not sure. After all the problems with there electric water pumps, Im not sure if there maintaining there quality. Having said...

Wide bands dont last very long, so yes Im just using a 1 wire universal. Works very well. When the haltech is working it does a great job considering how basic it is. It keeps the a/f pretty close to spot on. Its interesting to note that yours cuts in at 4.5psi dave. Mine injectors are out of...

    Progress update

Looks like the step to full engine management is going to have to come soon than thought. The haltech has developed a mind of its own. It played up on the dyno (i.e wouldnt turn on) which was traced to a bad connector. So after the dyno I hard wired the unit in. Today driving back from a mates...
