thinking about what you said Frank might be a noob question but could you in theory just strip the engine without setting to TDC as long you set it when put back together

Cheers Frank, weather beat me today gonna get on it tomorrow i put the tensioner back on gonna reset and try again. Whats best was to hold the cams down, can't remember how i did it last time :)

Stripping engine down today (well trying)…... after timing everything up dizzy out, tensioner off etc etc, when undoing the cam sprockets the spanner holding it slipped a little and i managed to turn the engine now its out of timing, just wondering what my options are? i was hoping to put the...

it kinda flops around to be honest frank, yeah i put some copper grease on the joint it did move just quite stiff, yeah bud tightened the nut up

just gonna go for the spares if a new one won't free it up any from what I'm feeling :) any thoughts on the other parts Frank

Yeah realised that when went back into garage lol after posting and don't know why my writing came up like it did

while I'm on about loosening things up how loose should these be, steering rack drivers side seems floppy lift up and it just drops to the position in the pic. Gear mech part seems very stiff

This how you meant Frank?, still not to sure how free it should be tho, there is no noise now but still seems stiff not got anything to reference it to apart from the grassers

whys that bud, what about the noise don't sound right to me reckon the grasser 1 is goosed, just not to sure on the spare the spare is off a road car which was used till last week, if i was to get it replaced would it spin a lot more freely

Ok on stripping the front end today i noticed the replacement front strut i put on was quite loose on the top nut, so now I'm thinking this is why i still had the camber on that wheel gonna sort that out first and see, as always guys thanks for the help will get back to ya
