get a K10 if you are AUTO-DIY savy......and you can find one that has a chassis in close-to-ACE condition......and you won't be depending on this car alone for your day-to day-work/commute (have a backup car in the family that you can commandeer in times of need)

or...on a gentleman's' agreement......I could ship you my switch (in a jiffy-bag) for your MOT.....then ship me it back when you've got your paperwork...in the meantime you can figure a permanent solution?

CRAP! no joy, If youre struggling for the MOT, you could splice the harness and fit crimped/soldered spade connectors....and use a generic toggle switch (without the tell-tale wired).. hope you manage: best regards rich

I just had something similar...I suspected the alternator belt and changed it but to no avail...still squeeking/whining...worse with electrical load..... Turned out to be the timing belt failed early due to a very stiff tentioner pulley....resulting in the flat side of the belt dragging over...

leave the black crud on the pistons....if it is disturbed then the full cleaning process can be a pain...and risks getting contamination down the small gap between the piston crown and the cyclinder walls. before you try removing any rust...smear some clean grease around the aforementioned...
