for my external coil setup we were going to use VN V6 coilpacks with EMS igniters. damn if i know how it was going to be setup, it never eventuated..think it was to be a wasted spark setup using two double ended coilpacks in fact that reminds me I paid for those igniters and never got them....

SR20s chew petrol?? i think they're pretty good..8-9lt/100km cant really complain. In hindsight i shouldve just put an SR20DE in..less trouble in the long run I think..

that looks good, i'd fasten it some other way as well though.. its on a part of the car where the winds gonna hit it with some downforce as you are driving.. but then again..it is only cheap so im sure if it flew off and you drove over it..wouldnt be that much bother to replace it haha

in answering your original question no thats not the water temp sensor. its a little brass fitting with ONE wire coming off it just under that/near there.. its about half the size of that one as well.
