Gee, my Micra sounds rough as guts (need to replace bearing in the water pump tensioner pulley), but the engine with 192000 kms on it pulls average 6.7lt per 100km. I can get past 450kms before the light comes on, and fill 33lts in the tank to fill it. I don't get these high readings on Micras...

So you have no thermostat, or haven't replaced it? Either way replace it straight away, it's not an expensive part, nor is it hard to install.

Autopro have a couple of regular OEM types for maybe $6-8. Get the ones that have the thread and nut, and not the clip. They are too small. Get a washer for each, and use the rubber from the originals. I had to replace mine recently as they were terribly gunked up. Tried both sorts, and screw...

I bought my Micra for $1400.00. It's an LX with 191xxxkms. The body isn't in the best shape, but runs pretty well. Just need to replace the water pump tensioner bearing and she should be good for a tune and right to go.

Damn! Why wasn't this around this time last year when I was looking at one? :-( I may be interested. I'd need to get rid of my current Micra and get some cash together. I'll let you know.
