We were running a bad leak at the waterpump at the weekend. It took a really extreme run for 12 mins with very low water to even get the needle to rise above normal, and that was marginal! Ok, the engine let go afterwards, but that did not seem to be related. The temp gauge was fine just before.

DCC Stages, Ingliston, Edinburgh. Some in car from the weekend - things get fun at about 35 seconds, at 60+ mph.

We had spent all day sitting between 5500 and 6800 with the limiter bouncing. The driver reckoned he heard a "whistle" and was about to comment when the engine let go. Hi Frank To be honest I don't know! I bought the dizzy pre-modified. Can you explain more? Is lean at the bottom good or bad? Cheers Jools

Correct! The new pump was taken out today, was dead. The old one restored, engine runs. Seems more like a timing issue. Seems the distributor got loose and moved. Things are now better, but still not as good as it was. Rolling road time I think.
