No dramatic progress, had a quiet one last night but attacked the tray the ECU sits on before I went home. Tonight I tidied up the sharp edges on the inside of the full tailgate with the grinder & set about the battery tray which is behind the passenger seat.Standard Micra tray fixed with 3 self...

How to know the rev limit?

When mine was 1.0cc I found the rev limiter very annoying, you can feel there is more to be had & I was bouncing off it all the time. The limiter was removed,& when the donor 1.3cc turned up I whipped the 1.0 remorselessly to see what it could handle before it was replaced. It had done 85k,rattly...

It must be getting close to the end now, other than a few more bits of tin here & there & the mechanical bits left like finishing & fitting the alternator brackets/hubs etc...I'll get the steels put on it soon & get it to the weighbridge & see what we've got... Another big loss would be the...

I now have some softer springs to play with, gear selector rods so I can have a go at Franks ghetto gear lever position & the heavy engine support bar to chop...

    Colour Match???

Take the car to an automotive paint supplier, they have colour chips that can match your paint according to age/fading/colour variations & supply it in a can or aerosol. As it's metallic the colour will come in basecoat which will need covering with lacquer..

Another not-so picture friendly baggage removal update.. Considering I bought the car in from the cold to paint stuff I seem to have redeveloped my unhealthy obsession for whiling away the hours chopping bits off.Surprising, every time I go to the car wielding a grinder more unwanted bits show...

    Super Stormtrooper

@Jay...Most painters charge between £90 to £120 a panel so it's not out the way.. Maybe touch it in with a brush & it'll take your eye off it if you don't fancy the band aid :D

    Arches - rubbery sealant?

Seam sealer may be useful to you for finishing/hiding repairs..comes brushable in a tin or a cartridges for finishing joints that you use in a standard silicone/sealer gun. It's what the manufacturers use where they join the cars together.Very strong & rubbery...When applied you can wet your...

    inner sill rust proofing

Here's the other little drama area below rear seat belt anchorage that causes rusty rear sills even on non sunroof models. This picture is from the right hand side of car.. Wire brush the corner/right angled bit & run your finger around & you'll feel the hole.On this car it's about 5mm x...

Found some time for some reciprocating saw/snips & file action this afternoon. Not going to be life changing but must weigh 1lb.Should also prevent some "parachute effect" when you have the window open being as it now has gaping holes instead of the black plastic grills to let the air escape.Have...

    inner sill rust proofing

Pull back the carpet beside the doors to expose the inner sills & there's some holes along there..& don't forget to plug the little hole that Nissan built into the Micras inside inner arch in front of back wheels.Hard to describe but have a poke about & you'll find it.If you feel & scrape at...
