You will be better off with a aftermarket system, if memory serves me right the K12 systems are coded to the NATS system. Also your car is on the cut over point when the wiring to the headunits changed, it is most likely you have the older wiring system so they won't be compatible that way as...
Personally would change the cap and rotor arm first off to see if it gets better, on the rare occasion it could be down to damage or water ingress into the leads themselves. Other than that it could be the start of the throttle body failing.
The joints wear out over time and the squeeling is normally down to the plastic joints rubbing and buckling under the weight of the mechanism. Sometimes it can be saved by cleaning and greasing them as Ulrich has suggested but I had to replace mine with a second hand unit off a low mileage car...
I wish my recent clutch change was £300, the Avensis cost me £800 to get it done. Massive thanks to Ed at Fusion for doing it as that price was a steal compared to the other quotes I had of £1300-2000.
Wiper Blades
They are meant to give consistent pressure over the whole blade compared to conventional blades, personally I would spend the money on conventional Bosch blades. As for the rear blade, your better off staying with the plastic arm and replacing the wiper blade.
