I've been dealing with a guy called Sam. As I reported the issue well within the warrenty period i don't think they can weasel out that way. I just wish they'd get it sorted. However have no hesitation in putting in a consumer affairs complaint if they don't come good.

Well they've stuffed me around for another week. This time saying they don't have a hoist free. I've not threatened the big stick yet but will have all the forms and letter filled out ready to go to lodge a complaint with Consumer Affiars if they don't come good by next week.

Checked you water level. Overheating could be a blown headgasket. 8 PSI is a lot of boost for a stock motor imho. I've blown two headgaskets and I only run 4.5 and I know my mixtures were ok.

How many kilometeres on the engine? A cared for Micra motor should easily do 250,000k's with out showing signs of wear.

Maybe a bit late for a reply but a company called Nardek (Nardec) used to sell new ones for the Micras. Pretty sure new, might have been reco'd. Worth checking if your still looking for one.

Mine has 405,000 and going strong. BUT I've had it since new so know it's history. I have driven Micras with much lower k's that were absolutley rooted. It really depends on the life they've had and how well they've been cared for.

Still desperately seeking good condition gearbox. Just installed one we'd bought from a wreakers only to discover it's no better then the one we took out. Now really behind the 8 ball with 2 dud gearboxes and having to pay a garage again to pull this one out.

A Bosch one but outside that cannot tell you what specific car it was for. Fitted a new one. Works fine.

If you have a good auto electrician then do what I did with one of my cars. Ditch the Micra alternator which is not a common model and get them to fit something from another brand. They left dual plugs in the loom so I can switch back to stock if ever I needed to.

Oh yeah, I forgot. Replaced one engine mount as well, also one set of rear brake cylinders.
