Cleaning throttle body benefits

On the weekend, I changed the spark plugs on my 160sr, as hadn't done so in 5 years. Its a low mileage car. As its quite involved, decided to clean the throttle body with carb cleaner. I actually unplugged the throttle body, which is probably the wrong thing to do, as you have to either calibrate throttle body afterwards, or disconnect battery for a hard re set). Learned this the painful way. Anyway, throttle body looked very clean. Stuffed a micro fibre cloth in one end, and sprayed carb cleaner in other end. Alternated the cloth and the end in which I sprayed. Used up whole can. Was amazed at the amount of black dirt/carbon that came out, bearing in mind it looked clean to the eye. Old spark plugs were very clean, no oil anywhere (thought it unusual), all they had were brown deposits on the end. The result of doing both is pretty amazing. Car is a lot more responsive. Its much easier accelerating, especially uphills. Really pleased with the outcome. Thought id share, to possibly help someone else. Best to try to do throttle body in situ (in retrospect can do, and better than horror of going through a manual re calibration or hard reset, by disconneting battery).
